Inclement Weather
What happens if it rains just before a meet?
Unfortunately, frequent thunderstorms are a reality of the summer swim team experience. When rain is in the forecast or the skies cloud up just before a meet, it is best to come to the pool. Meets will run as long as there is no thunder or lightning present. If thunder or lightning interrupts a meet, there will be a short delay. Swimmers and their families will wait in their cars until a final determination is made by the coaches and meet officials. Having some games or reading material stowed away in the car comes in handy in this situation. You also may want to pack your cars with rain jackets, umbrellas and extra towels to wipe off the bleacher seats. You will appreciate this planning ahead. If there is a rain delay, please DO NOT leave a meet without checking with the Head Coach or the Team Reps.
If early in the day a meet gets postponed, our team reps will inform everyone via e-mail of the change. The same goes for swim practice. Keep apprised of cancellations by checking your e-mail or calling the pool 703-860-0628.
HOW WILL I BE NOTIFIED IF SWIM PRACTICE IS CANCELLED?
The Team Reps and/or coaches will send an alert via the SwimTopia app the distribution list who have signed up to let everyone know if the pool is closed due to weather. If you are unsure, you may always call the pool 703-860-0628.
