Why do we need to volunteer?
Quite simply, we couldn't host a swim meet without the support of parent volunteers. It takes 50+ volunteers to run a swim meet, and the NVSL requires each team to provide volunteers for both Home and Away meets. Descriptions of each volunteer position are available under the Volunteer section on the website.
Whether you have one or four children on the regular swim team, each family is asked to do 10 volunteer shifts during the season. If you only have a Mini-Fin participant, then each family is asked to do 3 volunteer shifts during the season. When you volunteer, not only do you help support the program, but you have the opportunity to learn more about the sport, get to know the other swimmers and their parents, and often, you get a great view of the pool to see your swimmer in action.
How to I sign-up to volunteer?
To sign up to volunteer, please log into fmwst.swimtopia.com. Then under the “Meets and Events” tab you will find a list of all of our upcoming events. This will include meets as well as social events that need volunteers.(Not all events will be available to sign-up for at the beginning of the season so check back often to find the volunteer opportunities.)Click the green “JOB SIGNUP” button, then click the red “Sign up for Jobs” button. It will open a pop up window listing the jobs available. Most will have an information icon after the job title which will provide some explanation of the job. To sign up, click the corresponding box under “Check to signup” and then the red “Save Assignments” button at the bottom.
We ask for a volunteer check at the start of the season to ensure everyone contributes to the team, swimmers will not be able to participate in Time Trials or swim meets until we receive this check. Volunteer deposit checks will be returned upon completion of all volunteer shifts at the end of the season. Further questions about volunteering may be directed to our Volunteer Coordinator, Tracy Kelly at [email protected].
